Five Deli-Days of School with Erik's!

Monday: Still on a NATURAL HIGH from the weekend.

Tuesday: Don't you know I'm ridin' with a MARRAKECH EXPRESS?

Wednesday: Grab that R.E.O. SPEEDWAGON to get me over Hump Day!

Thursday: Need the inspiration of a PILGRIM'S PROGRESS to stay on the path.

Friday: Me and my RAGING BULL are bustin' outta here for the weekend!

Love it! As one who enjoys a play on words, Raging Bull is "raging" with joy over this post...(after seeing this sentence typed, Pilgrim's Progress has jumped in, revoking Raging Bull's posting abilities for today!). A great way to associate each day of the week with Erik's. We'd ask about the weekends, but even we have to admit, seven (7) days in a row of Erik's might be a bit hardcore!

FIRST POST WINNER! (per our 4.19.10 announcement)

We Have Our 7/30/10 "Goo Times Giveaway" Winners!

Good Morning Everyone!

We wanted to kick off this "winning" post with a couple of responses to some comments:

Foundation Citizen said...

We would like to see Eriks Deli move to having about 50% of their sandwiches be vegetarian. Over the years, Eriks has had some amazing sandwiches, there are many, many options. Therefore, we are not in favor of adding another carnist style sandwich to the permanent menu.

As the only writer so far against it, I hope we are not disqualified from a possible free (veggie) sandwich!!

Foundation Citizen, additional vegetarian sandwiches are something our C.O.O. Tony is hard at work on, as he is looking to add more vegetarian sandwiches to our menu. The Farmer's Market will become a permanent menu item. While we can't say that 50% of our sandwiches will be vegetarian we are definitely increasing our efforts to offer more vegetarian sandwiches, through more permanent menu items and our "What's New" items.

I think the Rio Grande should stay right where it is; on the border. If we moved it to Erik's all those thirsty desert cows would be extra thirsty. Thirsty desert cows will cause no end of trouble, and if they team up with the parched desert chickens...well, all heck will break loose. The Thai chicken wrap is where it's at, baby. I loved that wrap so much I made an imitation one at home the day after I had it for the first time. Then I went back to Erik’s and had another one. If we can put THAT on the permanent menu, we can deal a serious blow to the parched chicken faction and perhaps quell any cow-chicken alliance before they even get started! And, if you replace the chicken with a nice 1/4 lb. all-beef hot dog once in a while, where's the harm in that?

Ian, while I don't think we will be moving the Rio Grande (much to the chagrin of the thirsty cows), I ("Raging Bull") am with you on the Thai Chicken Wrap! Between the Wrap and our Rio Grande Club, this What's New has had some items, I'd love to see added to our menu for eternity! The Thai Chicken Wrap is quickly becoming a favorite! (note, still looking into the hot dog! haha)

I have had this sandwich several times and it is SOOOOO good. However, the avocado falls out the other side because the bread is so thick. But I LOVE the bread that is used, so what do I do? Should I substitute another softer kind of bread, like the sourdough used on the REO Speedwagon, another one of my favorites? I have also tried it eating it like an open-faced sandwich, but it's not as good. I have to find a solution to this, so please, please don't take this sandwich off the menu! :-)

Rachel, we will look into this and see re: any other bread alternatives, as we didn't realize this is a big issue with the sandwich. I'll ("Raging Bull") see what our District Managers and stores say regarding other types of bread and the issue with the avocado.

Without further "a goo" our 7/30/10 winners!

OUR SIXTH "PILGRIM'S PROGRESS GREAT COMMENT" WINNER IS...

  1. Dawn:

The Rio Grande is sure to please,
with it's turkey, bacon and peper jack cheese
Tomatoes, lettuce, guacamole....oooooo
Let's not forget the secret goo!

This sandwich is good and healthy at that,
but please keep in mind the bacon has fat!
though Rio Grande is fantastic to eat....
I say we save it for a special treat !

We here at the Goo Times are fans of these rhymes! Although all "Pilgrim's Progress" could come it with (from a previous post) was a "Roses are Red, Violets are Blue," type rhyme. Unfortunately (or fortunately!) "Raging Bull" put a stop to another one of these rhymes and instead just wanted to say "Thanks" to Dawn for the poem!

FIRST POST WINNER! (per our 4.19.10 announcement)

  1. shortydx52 (ew, thank you for posting first again! however, per our 4.19.10 guidelines, first post winners are ineligible to win two (2) weeks in a row...however, we might have to re-examine these guidelines if someone is a "first poster" three (3) times in a row...i.e. a gift card as a "thanks" for being so quick to reply)
